Federal Rebates: 30% Federal solar tax credit with no cap.

State Rebates: Austin has a great rebate for solar power at $2.50 per watt DC, up to a max of $15,000 per year or $50,000 lifetime! Your home needs to meet energy efficiency standards to be approved, since they want people to have made the “easy” fixes (like basic insulation) first.

Because Austin has very inexpensive power this rebate helps make solar energy financially compelling.

Couple these two rebates on a normal size 5kW system and you are looking at about $17,500 in rebates and tax incentives (for a net system cost of $12,500).
