This summer was unique in the history of 1BOG: for three months the 1BOG halls have been teaming with talented, motivated interns eager to contribute and engage the community in the name of solar! Our team nearly doubled in size over these breezy summer months and we accomplished a lot in that time thanks to all the help from our interns. While some interns are staying with us into September, others have left us to resume school or move on to their next adventure. We’d like to take a moment here to acknowledge some of the good work that has been done by our interns.
Our interns have dipped their feet in a variety of areas, from operational tasks to strategy to community outreach to public relations.
Yvonne Ho, a public relations intern, put together, in collaboration with others, a master PR spreadsheet that contains ALL past correspondences with certain reporters and editors, and it is complete with contact information.
Maegan Lillis, Andrew Rowland and Misty Lefrandt worked with Kanyi to invent, and ultimately streamline, the 1BOG canvassing program, primarily around youth campaign development. They started piloting the canvassing program, and after great responses in June, they expanded the canvassing to extend all over the East and South Bay and Sonoma. In August, the field team worked on recruiting and mobilizing volunteers by writing resources for volunteer activities and rebuilding the volunteer.1bog.org website.
Johnny Falla worked with the 1BOG team to help the group organize its activities, from the RFP process to performance management tools, to enable the rapid expansion of the program across the country.
Everyone has done a fantastic job and has helped 1BOG become the force to be reckoned with that it is today.
