Looks like this municipal solar financing or property tax financing thing is really starting to pick up! We’ve just added Santa Cruz, Santa Monica, and Solana Beach to our list of U.S. cities and states with municipal solar financing initiatives.
All three of these cities’ programs are currently still in the development phase, and pilot programs will hopefully be implemented by the end of the year.
In the case of Santa Cruz, you don’t necessarily have to wait. The local credit union is and has been providing loans for solar and other energy efficiency measures. Participating in this loan program now will make for an easy transition to participating in their municipal solar financing program, once it’s up and running.
We’ll be adding more locations to our list as more programs pop up around the country!
